Israeli robots will clean solar panels in Rajasthan, India, in a new $2.5 million agreement between two companies. Solar Cleaning Brush
Airtouch Solar will supply its autonomous and waterless cleaning robots to Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), the leading Indian energy developer. Installation of the robotic systems is expected to be completed by early 2024.
The robots use microfiber wipes and wind-blowing technology to remove dirt and soil from solar panels.
The company says that the robots will be able to save 80,000 to 100,000 kiloliters of water per megawatt of energy produced annually, in addition to faster cleaning.
Currently, 95 percent of the solar panel market operates without a robotic cleaning solution. The solar panel robotic cleaning industry is estimated to be worth $11 billion by the year 2025 as reliance on alternative forms of energy grows.
“We view this strategic agreement with India’s largest renewable company, AGEL, as a significant milestone in expanding the company’s operations and foresee that the collaboration with AGEL has the potential to expand on a significant scale in India and abroad,” said Tal Laufer, CEO of Airtouch Solar.
