Jamshedpur, May 3: Tata Steel Noamundi Iron Mine (NIM) bagged first prize in Overall Performance A1 category (2020-21) and second prize in Overall Performance A1 category (2019-20) in the 27th and 28th Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation (MEMC) week, 2019-20 and 2020-21 organised under the aegis of Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), Ranchi Region on April 30, 2022.  

The other prizes bagged by NIM include first prize in Mineral Beneficiation, Sustainable Development and Environmental Monitoring and second prize in Mineral Conservation and Best Performance Awards in Afforestation, Systematic and Scientific Development and Sustainable Development categories. Tata Steel Long Products Limited (Vijaya II iron mine) received four awards, second prize in Overall performance A2 (2019-20), Iron Ore and Waste Dump Management and Best Performance Awards A2 (2019-20) in Systematic and Scientific Development and Environmental. 

Inspection teams from various mines visited the participating mines and evaluated their performance in terms of afforestation, waste dump management, systematic and scientific development, mineral conservation, reclamation and rehabilitation, mineral beneficiation, environmental monitoring, sustainable development, public relations and propaganda and CSR activities.
